The term Business Process Reengineering (BPR) has now become common in the fast changing business world. The term came into rounds around two decades ago, when it was recognized as a methodology for bringing in changes in the business sector of Unites States of America. As per Habib and Shah (2013), Hammer also known as the father of BPR, was the first scholar to coin the term. Daly (2011) quotes that Hammer and Stanton presented BPR as an instrument for carrying out radical changes in the American companies’ business processes and was taken as a replacement of the then famous Japanese approach of TQM (Total Quality Management). Hammer (2010) deliberates BPR as rethinking and radical change for the complete business processes in order to attain goals set for the company with regards to its quality, cost, speed and service. Davenport & Short (1990) considers BPR as a procedure of investigation and workflow reform in a business and Zarei, Merati and Ghapanchi (2010) suggested reconsidering and rebuilding the entire organizational structure, value chain and workflow of operations.

Archer and Bowker (1995) detailed the dynamic and ever changing nature of the business world and thus the demand of changing traditional approach taken for production and invention. There is eminent need to opt for modern technologies so as to produce great quality of products and facilities, which are able to raise the standard of the business to meet the international markets. The change is a must for growth and the companies which do not change with time soon fall behind their competitors and ultimately perish. Zinser, Baumgärtner, and Walliser (1998), presented the customer centric view for the need of change for businesses. They believe that the prime reason for change in any business is to attract customers to please them and retain them. Also, taking modernization for the determination of upholding competitive place and application of cutting-edge technologies which keeps on updating also need the business to keep on reengineering. Likewise, for adopting quality leadership and reduction of cost, companies also adopt BPR.
