Community and religious leaders are vital allies who can be very well brought together to work towards the accomplishment of a healthy environment. The state of California itself has ambitious climate targets that it wishes to achieve by the year 2030, those include reducing carbon dioxide emissions to 40% and to shift the state’s electricity production to at least 50% renewable sources, also to increase buildings energy efficiency by 50%. So if UC plans to come to the solution of achieving carbon neutrality through bringing together the community for this goal as well, it will also have the State of California as its back because they too want to see the change.
