Organizations change is necessary in order for them to be competitive (Balogun & Hailey, 2008). It is mandatory for the companies to constantly reinvent themselves if they want to stay ahead of the competition and be competent. They need to have an organized approach if they want to stay competent in the current world and continuously need to improve on this approach. The companies also understanding this inherent need of change want to have a proper change management policies and teams. It is a necessity to have a proper change management team for the change management to be effective and most organizations are indeed focused on change management. Despite these efforts it has been noticed that organization change management success is quite rare. Statistics indicate that only one-third of organizational change efforts are successful (Meaney and Pung, 2008).
Industry of Discussion
The Industry of discussion is the Informational Technology industry. In the IT industry, organizations have often have had to change from their conventional information structure to an Information Communication technology ICT integrated structure. More specifically the integration of ICT and related change management in the educational industry is considered here. Tearle (2003) in researching on ICT implementations for schools was able to establish as a fact that it is only some schools that are able to change manage successfully and transition towards using ICT, while others have lesser success rates.
Situation Context relevant to industry
This industry selection is appropriate, as the change management during an ICT integrated implementation is quite complex as noted in research studies (Pieterse et al, 2012). Change management issues introduced during an ICT implementation will affect three main actors of the organization. Primarily the end users will be affected, and then the professional users and management. For change management to be successful in this context all three actors have to be involved in the change management and all three actors have to be fully satisfied.
