In the research undertaken by Kemper and Danhauer (2005), there was an analysis of the population and the different demography regarding the impact of the quality of life of the patients. It was determined that in each section, there was a general improvement in the wellbeing of the people and increase in the sentiment regarding the quality of care. The staffs who are involved in providing holistic care also state that they see an improvement in the morale of the patients. Some treatments such as hematopoietic stem cell transplantation are found to be a painful procedure that makes the people undergo extensive mood swings. There are also other forms of therapy that are prescribed based on the subjective needs of the patients in palliative care. Many of these patients are not mobile and this therapy enables them to increase their quality of life (Wheeler, 2015). Apart from this, for the Post Anesthesia Care Unit and in the Pre-Surgical Unit, this music is played as environmental music. There are many literatures suggesting that the music therapy does not have a real impact in the people and the anxiety level of the patients remain the same. Some suggest that music therapy does not improve any functionality, nor does it improve the quality of life.
There are many literatures that conclude these findings as well (O’Callaghan et al., 2014). There is a need to analyze the different claims to make an independent determination of the impacts of the music. For these people, there are bedside visits that are a primary feature of the music therapy. It was also found that the music therapy enabled the dying people to form positive reinforcements and interactions with the people. The researchers have used secondary qualitative and descriptive data to analyze the impact of the music and end of life care programs. It was found from the data that 57% of the patients responded that the music therapy enabled them to gain more tolerance and feel more relaxed. The nurses and the employees who were employed for the end of the life care of the patients state that they felt the patients to be more open, and reduction in anxiety levels were observed. In one of the programs, the patients were allowed to be more actively involved in the development of the music and this helps them deal with the consequences of the end of life programs. In one study, the music interventions for the end of the life pointed out that the people were able to tolerate their pain and were able to better accept their situation, leading to a more receptive state.
