The research has focused on the cross culture interpreting styles and the division of the gender capabilities in perceiving what is being interpreted and what is being actually perceived by the listener. This gap is a large one and provides much scope for further research as men and women both have different inherent capacities of understanding what is being interpreted to them. More and more people are employed in government and non-governmental offices, cross cultural business expansion across the globe. Tannen (1993) recollects a situation which has a male interviewer and a female interpreter who is interpreting a male candidate suitable for a position in a company, It was noticed that since, the male interviewer gives more credit to men who are dominant and of producing results, the female interpreter found it difficult to accept the situation, even though her job was to just translate the language and let the interviewer know. The interviewer who liked and was looking for a dominant personality could actually not visibly see the desired qualities because the interpreter who was a female did not necessarily accept the dominant attitude and much against her wish, she was unable to convey the right thoughts of the candidate. However, in contrast, Hyde and Linn (1998) provide that female has a more sophisticated verbal ability and are more competitive, expressive and more superior in verbal ability while communicating. The article provides good results about the men and women differences in verbal ability, but do not take into account all other factors like the position of the client, the age of the client and the interpreter, their past experience, their primary culture and their belief system and general worldview about the opposite genders, etc. However with many literatures available on gender differences in verbal and interpreting ability, there are very few articles which specifically focus on the cross cultural interpreting abilities and differences among both genders. This gives a lot of scope for investigating the differences in interpreting capabilities by considering all variable factors which may act as an influencer on the client as well as the interpreter during their communication.
