Secondly, the crusaders could not manage to do what others had also failed in. They could not win the heart of the people and could not offer them what they required to be motivated. Also, they couldn’t really look for anyone who had the dedication of staying as a crusader while maintaining a strong military existence sufficient enough for preventing the land from being conquered through leaders such as Saladin (Blaydes and Christopher 551-586). It is also true that these crusaders had their own holding. They were also threatened through other noble knights. They also had to go back to their families. The defragmentation of the crusades and the defragmentation of people in them led towards the demise of the crusades. They could not establish political stability and control it particularly because they did not have the ability of leading. Their leadership abilities were apparent at an individual level. Team work and group based performance while ruling and fighting in crusades could have helped in establishing a better law and order.
There were many crusades. The most crucial ones were the ones that took place in the 12th century because they helped in understanding the state of crusades in long term. In the 12th century and through to the third crusade in the year 1192, there were several issues and tensions plaguing the entire system of crusades. For the Outremer lords, compromise with the residing people and the powers to the Muslim people did not seem to make any sense. Living in a consistent warfare was not possible. The fall of Edessa was one such crusade in which the failure resulted in even more outbreaks (Blaydes and Christopher 551-586). There were mistakes made of selecting a wrong route of land and issues of casualties of serious nature on the way to the war ground. There were other essential crusades as well. For example, the crusade in the year 1199 was called by Innocent III for recapturing Jerusalem. This was a crucial crusade as it was evoked at the time when Muslim power was enormous and difficulties were among the crusaders (Blaydes and Christopher 551-586). This crusade however was such that it did not even brought about threatening the powers of Muslim. Commerce and trade started triumphing but the rift between the churches in the east and those in the west continued to remain difficult. The later years also saw few crusades that were so weak that even the initial ones that the demise could be guessed before their occurrence. This generated the fall of crusades.
