Feeling at the geginning of the course
At the beginning of the course, I felt that sustainability is a general concept which requires businesses to focus on efficient consumption and utilisation of resources. However, as soon as the course progresses, I have learned that it is not just a matter of responsible consumption, but it is also associated with satisfying the stakeholders by businesses. There is a need for proper strategic and process that needs to be followed in ensuring that sustainable all round development is positively accomplished. I have learned that appropriate strategies are essential to be devised in making it sure that sustainable all round development is accomplished. My belief at the beginning of this module regarding the sustainability concept was that the environment should be protected to make sure that sustainable development is achieved.
Feeling at the end of the course
At the end of this module, I have realised that there are various important concepts and factors that must be taken into consideration in achieving sustainable development by businesses. It is not simply the matter of concern that environmental sustainable performance is achieved, but businesses are required to pay adequate level of importance to the environment in which they operates. They need to make sure that there is reductions of pollution, development of cleaner products, initiatives aimed at replenishing depleted resources are essential in becoming a sustainable organisation. It has also been learnt from this course that sustainability is not just the matter of efforts by an individual, but there is a requirement of collaborative efforts from all the employees of an organisation in becoming sustainable with respect to their business practices. At the end of this module, it has also been learnt that sustainability achievement within business practices is highly difficult and require appropriate skills and efforts.
