In the context of non expert everyday users some of the main differences that the system architecture of the iOS, the Android and the Windows Mobile would influence are that of the user experience at the application layer level. In all three the application layers and the application platform is the uppermost stack, and hence the non-expert user is isolated from most of the OS specific elements. This is convenient for the user. In the case of the Windows mobile, since the layers are either derived from an existing OS or are created by vendors who also make the CPU for windows computers, the user might feel more familiar with the phone. The features of the Windows mobile would be something that they could easily use. In the case of Android, the advantage is the diverse range of user applications that available for the non expert user. Android being an open source means many applications are built to work with the OS, on the other hand windows and iOS can only support specific applications. The iOS has an advantage over the other two in terms good responsive time, as each of its processes are allotted an own address space. For a non expert user the responsiveness of the device will also be important.
iOS is seen to be the most secure system for all users, and this would hence be applicable for non-expert users also. Non Expert users however would feel more comfortable with Windows, because the OS security patches and updates are done automatically and online support is also readily available. More robustness is preferred by users. While this is the case with Android also, a non-expert user might prefer a system that they are used to. Familiarity will make a difference here.
Based on target user groups, it can be said that both iOS and Windows will inspire a loyal group of expert and non-expert users. These are users who are already familiar with the features offered by the OS in the form of desktops and laptops. Android on the other hand has the advantage of being an open system, hence there are many user customizations and modifications possible making this a mass brand with a wider target market. For non expert users familiarly might be important, so the chances that they may go with a same manufacturer is high, on the other hand expert users might try out different Android features.
