It has been proved by several previous studies that foreign direct investments (FDI) are amongst the life-forces that push the economic growth of a nation. This study has focused on discussing the importance and contribution of FDI in developing sustainable economic growth of Ireland and to what extent this approach can generate future economic growth in the similar nation. The financial crisis of 2008 has significantly affected the business growth of different states but FDI investments have significantly supported nations in gaining economic stability. Ireland’s financial recession officially ended in 2010, economy of Ireland had gone through modest levels of economic growth during the time of 2011, with a reduction of 1.1% in 2012 (Central Statistics Office, 2012). In the last few decades Ireland has obtained a place of top region of Europe for global FDI through creating strong financially welcoming surroundings than its neighbouring countries (Ruane F. and Buckley P.J. 2006). At the early 1970s, FDIs have supported multinational enterprises (MNEs) selectively and till the time of mid-1980s, it established strong industrial clusters based on MNE investments in key high-tech sectors which have been brought by FDI developments. Basic aim of this report is to present the idea how FDI investments have provided sustainable growth to Ireland and will become fruitful for it in the coming time as well.
