If the composition of the Nitrogen and Phosporous varies then the final PHA that is obtained is not the one needed. This contributes to sludge biomass. These monomeric compounds can be altered easily (Wen et al., 2010). This is one of the major limitations when applying PHA on a large commercial scale.
