For example, occupancy rates of five star hotels in Macau have increased significantly between 2003 and 2008.
Technological: Rapid advancement in technology has enabled travel and tourism industry to leverage this and integrate technology in its functioning. Various travel and tourism based business today have dedicated websites and e-commerce sites, through which they conduct their business across the globe.
Environmental: Due to emergence of gaming sector in Macau there has been rapid rise in electricity consumption. For example, electricity consumption increased from 1500 million kWh to 3300 million kWh during period of 2000-2008. Similarly, rise in visitors has also created issues such as waste disposal etc. For example, based on the table below it can be said that how commercial and industrial waste has increased rapidly from 2002-2008.
