Discuss what assumptions each approach makes about workers, and in particular the assumptions of each about what workers want to get out of their working lives.
Explain what each approach suggests managers should do to get the most out of workers.
Scientific Management Theory:
Scientific Management theory was introduced by Frederick Taylor. This theory determines that the effective way of completing a given task and the effective way of motivating, training and selecting employees for a particular task can be determined scientifically. The major objectives of this theory were:
The stages of the work to be done by an individual can be determined scientifically.
Task to be done by each employee should be selected scientifically by the employer rather than employee choosing the work they want to do (Rose, 2013).
The company should encourage cooperation among the employees. The procedure of enforcing cooperation should be in accordance with the scientifically devised procedures.
The employee and the management should share the work equally (Guastello, 2013).
Taylor advocated that the scientific procedures and process would help improve the output and the productivity of each employee.

Human Relation’s School
This theory was introduced by Elton Mayo. The theory suggested that the organization is a social system. The employer should understand the emotions of the employees. The company should not always rely on commanding the employees. The productivity of the employees is directly dependent on the employee satisfaction (Hershcovis & Barling, 2010).
