Barbara Strozzi had the favorable luck to be naturally introduced to a universe of creativity, scholarly age, and imaginative opportunity. She made her name famous as a music composer and a talented singer by releasing eight collections of ancient period songs without any support from the members of the Church or any musical community (Wood 1980, 284). She is now and again credited with the beginning of a new musical art and tradition named ‘the cantata.’ Her works were incorporated into critical accumulations of melody which discovered their way into the historic musical books of Europe and England.Giulio Strozzi, who adopted Barbara was one of the most influential and powerful person in the state of Florence during the period of 1600-1700.

He was the most creative and prolific member in ‘Academia degli Incogniti’ (Academy of the Unknowns) and only this group created the infamous ‘Opera – music and theater’ which exceptionally entwined into another work of art and prospered in Venice all through the seventeenth century and after that extended throughout Europe. The Incogniti group consisted many great poets, philosophers, musicians, etc. and within the vicinity of this group, Barbara Strozzi was accumulated as a music composer, singer and lyricist. Barbara was trained in musical composition and singing by Francesco Cavali who was the director of music at St. Mark’s Basilica. Later on in 1637, Giulio founded an institution ‘Academia degli Unisoni’ (Academy of the Uniosns) which was dedicated to the signings of Barbara Strozzi and she sang her compositions during the academy meetings also (Glixon 1997, 320).
