Message from the Movie
The movie gives a number of messages. On one hand it depicts that the notion of the life of a single person can have immense value. Also it gives the message that it is good to accept the changes in life. Pu Yi had to face a number of incidents where his life changed completely. He was abdicated in his own palace (Sklarew et al, 1998). Later in his life, he was forced out of the same place. But, he continued to live with the changes wisely. He was an emperor only in the walls of the city as they had become a republic but he knew that he had to be strong. He knew that he needs to try hard to be strong. Also, towards the end the movie gives the message that even if one has lost everything, he/she should try best to live his/ her life in the most happiest and enchanting manner. After his release from the reeducation camp, he worked as a gardener, married another lady who was a nurse and started writing is biography titled as ‘The first half of my life’.
Conclusion
‘The Last Emperor’ is an ironical tale of Pu Yi, the last emperor of China. The movie depicts his powerless life being a king and the suffering has to be faced by him throughout his life.
